In true Deontay Wilder fashion, the end came courtesy of one vicious punch. The former WBC heavyweight champion has put his name back into the mix in the division.

“Who’s next?” Wilder asked after needing to land only three punches before finishing the job. “I’m down for whatever. Whether it’s Andy Ruiz, Oleksandr Usyk or whoever. I’m back.”

The 36-year-old Wilder improved to 43-2-1 and collected his 42nd knockout. He was facing a former sparring partner who was on a run of his own with a pair of knockouts over Adam Kownacki before finding himself on the canvas and staring at the lights courtesy of a Wilder right hand.

Although Wilder came up short against Fury, the power remains undeniable. He is easily one of the most devastating punchers in heavyweight history.

What the future holds for him is in the air. Fights with Ruiz and Usyk, or a megafight with Anthony Joshua, are all possible.
