A female trophy hunter is shown posing with a dead body of a lion, she holds up her rifle for a photograph.Revenge is sweet for this lion after trophy hunters apparently slaughtered his friend.

Footage from South Africa seems to show two hunters posing next to the body of a lion they have killed before another big cat leaps at them and screams are heard off screen.

At first it shows an American woman holding a gun squatting next to the deceased feline as a man programs a camera to take a photo before joining her. ‘Let’s get a few shots for the wall at home, huh?’ he laughs.

They then hold up their guns – both weapons and biceps – before the man returns to the camera.

But as he does so, and the lady contemplates her ‘trophy’, another lion suddenly appears and the woman shrieks in terror as she panics and runs for her life.’F**k!’ the man yells, also fleeing towards their vehicle as the big cat leaps dramatically over the dropped camera and out of sight.

A piercing scream can be heard followed by two gunshots and the sound of a car speeding off.

In the eerie silence that follows the lion stalks back into view – clearly unharmed by bullets – and off into the distance. It is unclear what happened to two people.

Jayden Tanner, who uploaded the amazing footage, captioned ‘#stoptrophyhunting’, to YouTube wrote: ‘I managed to get my hands on this video when I was in South Africa a couple of months ago, a hunter showed me and thought it was hilarious.

‘For me this video highlights a distressing situation that the world needs to see.

‘Every year trophy hunters kill thousands of exotic wild animals in Africa, this combined with poaching poses a serious threat to the survival of our most loved and endangered species. We have to stop this now.

‘Animals are also bred in captivity for the sole purpose of being hunted by tourists who are willing to pay the high price tag, a lion hunt can cost a trophy hunter up to $35’000.
