A 16-year-old wrestler won many a heart when he carried out an act of heroism outside the wrestling ring as well. The teen reportedly pinned down a kidnapper, who was trying to abduct three children.

The incident took place at Chuck’s Gas Station located in Dona Ana, New Mexico. According to the reports that were presented in the court, the incident took place at the gas station, where a woman got off the bus with her three children age 1, 2, and 9 years respectively.

The kidnapper who has been identified as Daniel Beltran of age 22, grabbed the arm of the two-year-old kid and threatened the mother to give away her other two children as well.

Police say Beltran followed a woman from a bus stop in Las Cruces and demanded that she hand over her children to him. The woman fled to a gas station convenience store (pictured)

The mother responded with a kick, but Beltran punched the mother with quite a force on the head, which made her fall on the ground. She was carrying her youngest child in a carrier strapped to her back and fell with the child on her back.

The people who were standing near tried to help the mother but were assaulted by Beltran. With the bystanders stepping in, the woman got the opportunity to move inside the gas station store along with her three kids.

The door of the store was then held by another man, ensuring that the attacker was kept away from the mother and the children.

Canaan kept Beltran restrained for five minutes until police arrived and arrested him

But the man holding the door failed to prevent the entry of the attacker inside the store, as Beltran nailed him down with a punch in the face, after succeeding to forcefully open the gas station store door.

According to the bystanders, it was reported that the man then went inside the store in search of the kids and kept shouting and asking her to give him the kids. During this chase for the children, Beltran also punched two other women in the store by hitting them on the face.

All this while the mother kept running inside the store and finally, hid the children and herself in an employee room in the store.

Canaan Bower, 16

This commotion was noticed by the 16-year-old wrestler Canaan Bower, who saw the incident from across the street, where he was putting gas in his truck. After understanding the incident, he drove to the store.

By the time he arrived, the scuffle has already shifted inside the store. The wrestler went inside and immediately tackled the kidnapper by putting him in a chokehold position.

The teen managed to keep the kidnapper in that position until the police arrived. Bower had recently won a heavyweight championship just a month before the incident and is a student at Mayfield High School. He is preparing to compete in the States shortly.

But his intervention and knowledge helped in controlling the situation. His heroic move saved the lives of three children, a mother, and also the people standing near the store, as Beltran was aggressively hitting every person, who tried to help the mother.

Though there have been no updates in connection to an earlier association of the kidnapper and the mother. The incident is, therefore, currently, identified as a random misshaping.

The mother and the kids were saved by the 16-year-old wrestler and the situation was brought under control after the police arrived at the incident site.

The brave move of the young man helped in rescuing the family. Beltran has been charged with multiple charges, which include child abuse, kidnapping, assault, battery, with one, two, two, and four counts.  The mother, the children, and other bystanders, who have been injured in this incident were immediately offered medical care.
